A member asked:

Why does my baby seem drunk after all feedings?

Satisfaction: Your baby is so happy, warm and full of milk; this is their way of showing satisfaction. Generally all that feeding makes them tired as well- so the half closed eyes and milk dripping down their chin is all normal and just means you had a good feeding.

It was a great feed: The hindmilk, the milk at the end of the feeding, is high in fat and calories. That fat releases a hormone from the gut called cholecystokinin (cck). Cck works on morphine receptors and is thought to be responsible for that "milk drunk" look the baby has after a good feeding.
