Sunlight: Natural sunlight is a better source because it is full spectrum if vitamin d is an issue in northern climate oral vitamin d is readily available over the counter. Dsicuss with doctor re your vitamin d level and appropriate dose for you.

Yes, but: Relatively few people need to seek out extra sun for vitamin d and you certainly run a risk of skin cancer from the tanning exposure.

Do Not TanBed: Do not go in a tanning bed. The evidence has been found that even a few trips to the local tanning bed increases the risk a melanoma 4 fold. The american cancer society and american academy of dermatology both have put out statements about incidental sun exposure and dietary and adequate vitamin d.
