Wash hands...: Since most are caused by viruses, several preventative steps can be done to help reduce these infections: 1. Wash hand frequently. 2. Avoid being in situations where you are that can harbor or spread viruses ( unventilated areas) 3. Use a netty pot 4. Cover your cough with your arm and your fist . 5. Get your vaccines up to date, including the flu shot.

Infection prevention: Hello, this is a very good question and appropriate during the cold and flu season. Wash your hands. Viruses are a common reason for nasal and ear infections. Drink lots of water, use a saline nasal wash and sleep with a humidifier. This will moisturize and clean your nose. Finally, drinking water will hydrate you to replace moisture we lose from evaporation in our airways.
