A 20-year-old member asked:

why is it said tht pregnant woman shouldnt sit directly on the floor on the ground?

Really?: I've never heard that. There is no medical reason, but perhaps because it can be difficult to get up if you are very pregnant and very large. Yoga during pregnancy is very popular and a healthy activity that i'd encourage any pregnant woman to do. Many of the postures take place on the floor.

Like another person: He can't discriminate against her because of her pregnancy (gender discrimination) and depending on the size of the company is bound by the family medical leave act to accommodate absences due to doctors appointments and recovery after delivery. Also there may be certain tasks that are pose more risks for the pregnant woman, and they should provide an accommodation for her.

Also remember that most employers in most states are required to provide a clean, private place for pumping (NOT a public bathroom!)

I agree that the employer SHOULD provide this place for pumping, but I actually think it is a minority of states that actually have this as a law. It should be a law, but there is much variation from state to state.

Is it safe for a pregnant woman to stand near a microwave?

They can leak: There are ways to improve safe use of appliances like microwaves. One is purchase from a reputable company. Another is to look for ul label. A kit might be available at the local hardware store or online to test a microwave for leakage. But the first step is to use other ways to heat if concerned or to stand at a distance when using a microwave in the home or workplace. See my health guide also :).

Eat your steak!: A pregnant woman can definitely eat steak, but it should be cooked all the way through. Some may think this ruins the steak. To have a steak that is cooked well-done but still tender, try a thinner cut.

The question should have been "if she smokes at all during pregnancy". Why subject your fetus to potential harm?
