I have a cold my nose isn't stuffed i can breathe just fine but i can't smell or taste anything, why is that?

Hydrocodone : You have several reasons to temporarily lose your sense of smell even with a mild nasal mucosal irritation. Hydrocodone use is the most common cause. Your previous turbinate surgery and septoplasty may have reduced the total nasal mucosal area and thus more susceptible to loss of smell. Stop the hydrocodone. Your family physician can prescribe a mild steroid inhaler for faster recovery.
