Echocardiogram: An enlarged heart simply means that there is something wrong. It should be followed up with an echocardiogram which will accurately determine the size of each of the chambers and provide useful information as to the cause of the enlargement, if that is, in fact, confirmed.

Another test: A cxr is not very sensitive to evaluate cardiac size, and may overestimate the size of your heart due to technical issues. If there is concern, an echocardiogram can give very accurate measurements regarding the size of your heart.
