Asthma: You might have asthma. If you have a history of allergies, and now are experiencing shortness of breath and wheezing it is likely asthma and you need treatment. Inhaled steroids and oral singulair (montelukast) can be helpful, as well as a bronchodilator. If the condition is more serious, you might need to go to the er for IV steroids, nebulized bronchodilator, and oxygen.
