VFA: The process of evaluation for vertebral fractures using qualitative, semi-quantitative, or quantitative morphometric methods is called vertebral fracture assessment and provides information regarding a person’s fracture risk. This improves overall assessment of an individual’s future fracture risk and allows for proper intervention. Guidelines are established for men and women to undergo vfa.

Osteoporosis test: It is a low radiation dose test (less than standard x-ray; also less expensive) that can assess people at risk for low energy spine fractures. The presence of such fractures puts one at risk for additional fractures; not all hurt at the time, so earlier detection may guide treatment. An osteoporosis specialist may use it. At 22, you most likely do not need it.
