Am perplexed: Restless leg syndrome is a movement disorder not associated with leg pain and swelling. Did you misunderstand the explanation? Do you have venous insufficiency or obstruction, or even thrombophlebitis. A venous niva study might be needed. Discuss with your doctor.

Unilateral leg edema: You should have your swollen leg evaluated by having a doppler study (ds) of the veins of your left leg to see if you have a deep venous thrombosis (DVT) or varicose veins causing your edema. Edema due to fluid retention should be symmetrical. If it is not, other conditions causing the edema need to be found. Ask for the ds or be referred to a vascular surgeon to evaluate your unilateral edema.
