Depends on cause: What is going on with your tongue? Is there pain, swelling? Taste buds can react to hot, spicy foods trauma, and any allergies you may have. Ice, baking soda can help. Typically tongues heal very quickly from trauma so if this does not get better in a day or two see your dentist or an oral surgeon for an evaluation.

See your dentist: For a personal clinical exam to see exactly what's going on and why. These types of situations require a one on one personal exam and cannot be diagnosed over the internet sight unseen. We certainly can't tell you what to do or what is best until we know what is wrong, if anything.
