Autoimmune disease: Antibodies float in blood that attack the kidney and lung tissues. These antibodies are made by the persons immune system when it recognizes some tissues as foreign. The end result is kidney failure and lung failure kind of like bad pneumonia with coughing up blood. It is not infectious. Treatment includes immune suppression to stop these antibodies and plasma exchange to remove antibodies.
