Relatively safe: They may have risk of increasing possibility of DVT and weight. Avoid smoking and maintain a healthy life style.

Yes: As long as you have no other reason you can not take the pill then it is ok to use them long term. If you are done having children and you need contraception consider essure. It can be done in minutes in the office and then you would not need to take the pil ever again.
