I have been on the birth control pill sronyx for 5 years, but for the last 4 months i have been having brown midcyle spotting that starts on day 17 of my cycle. does this mean my pills are no longer effective? i have never missed a pill.

Unlikely: to affect contraception. However, a 1 or 2 % failure rate is the usual rate of pregnancy with birth control pills. If this continues, you should see your doctor to get an exam and medication adjustment, to control the breakthru bleeding.

Pills: Talk to your provider. Physiology can change overtime. Likely you do need pill with more support.
