Infant are obligatory nose breathers- up to 6 months. So, if there is nasal blockage, there will be noisy/distressed breathing, feeding, sleeping problem. Check baby's nose with pen light; if there is mucous, put 3-4 drops of saline nasal drop and suck with bulb syringe, don't go too far. Other cause can be congenital obstruction of nasal passage, cold, etc. If so, check with your pe.Diatrician.

It depends on how severe the snoring is. Many newborns have some congestion that makes breathing louder in sleep. If you observe pauses in breathing for more than 10 seconds, that he is struggling to breathe, or if his skin turns bluish, these are reasons he should be checked. Talk with your pediatrician about the symptoms and they can help decide what steps to take.
