Numb? No: No, making you feel "numb" mentally is not the desired effect of effexor (venlafaxine). However, you're also on xanax, which can do the same thing -- or at least sedate you. You raise the question about your Adderall not working because of Effexor (venlafaxine) -- but it's also possible the xanax is counteracting it. Hoping you're working with a psychiatrist on these medications -- if not, please do.

Effexor (venlafaxine) & Depression: Effexor (venlafaxine) is usually prescribed for depression or for anxiety. At times, the internal pain of the depression itself is so hurtful that people experience this contrast of numbness on antidepressants: no experience of the sadness but no experience of the good feelings either. This could be temporary or may last as long as you take effexor (venlafaxine). In general, Effexor (venlafaxine) works with adderall. Consult your doctor.
