Feeling has a name: That is a classic panic feeling referred to as globus hystericus. You can see the word hyster in there, as in the word hysterectomy. The ancient greeks thought that is represented the uterus breaking loose and traveling into the back of the throat where it would cause this symptom. We use the term hysterical sometimes to describe overly emotional people or sudden extreme laughter.
