Probably a reflex...: "smoke" of any kind causes most animals to run! like spiders and snakes, it triggers a reflex response you might want to consider. Smoke itself is a complex mixture of different molecules resulting from incomplete oxidation- tobacco smoke has over 4, 000 different compounds in it, which your body treats as "toxins" like carbon monoxide, tar and carcinogens. The legal issue could cause anxiety also!

Globus Greenicus : Globus is a nonpainful lump or foreign body sensation in the throat. It can be persistent or intermittent & not associated with food intake. It is linked to various causes, including psychiatric etiologies (eg panic disorder). Panic attacks are a common side effect of marijuana consumption. Prolonged use can cause tolerance to this effect and cause panic to present as globus.
