Parathyroid cancer: Sorry about your mother. Parathyroid cancer is quite a rare cancer. From 1988 - 2003, only 224 patients with parathyroid carcinoma were identified by the seer. Patients with parathyroid carcinomas are more likely to have symptoms, a neck mass, bone and kidney disease, increase calcium in the blood, and very high serum parathyroid hormone.Treatment is surgery. It is resistant to chemo or radiation.
