A member asked:

My 9 year old son has been advised to undergo adenotosillectomy by coblation. what are the potential risks involved with this procedure?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Small but real: There is always a small risk with anesthesia. The main risk with tonsil removal is bleeding during the procedure and when the scab on the tonsils falls off days later. Overall risk of death is in 1 in 15, 000 range, bleeding risk 1-4 %.
