Radiating pain: An abcessed wisdom tooth can cause pain that radiates to your ear. I hope you have sen a dentist and are getting treated for this. If you have not yet seen a dentist see one soon. You need to treat this infection.

No way to know: Without being seen. I hope you are being treated for the abscess as any infection can spread and cause serious complications! you should be seen for an evaluation and appropriate treatment as soon as possible.

Abscess: It is possible to have 'referred' pain to the ear, and the area behind the ear because the same cranial nerve for sensation goes to both areas, just in different branches. I have not however seen pain refered to just the ear cartilage. Mostly just general ear ache. Most likely this is another issue. I would recomend getting the abscess treated by a dentist, because these can realy ruin a day.
