Depends on stage: If you have gingivitis, which is inflamed and red gum, this can be treated an reversed. Once things have progressed to periodontal disease there is bone loss that cannot be reversed. Periodontal disease can be treated with the goal of keeping the tissue healthy and preventing progression and additional bone loss.
