Yes: One way to accelerate your ability to do pull-ups is to do "negative" pullups. Do as many pullups as you can (even if it's only one or two). Then stand on a block, so that you can use your legs to assume the pullup position (bar to chin), and then let gravity pull you down, resisting all the way. Repeat these "negative" pull-ups until you are exhausted. Repeat the regimen every day.
