What does the red cross check every time you donate for your blood type?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Communicable: Diseases. There are many eligibility criteria for blood donation. The most important being to ensure that the process is safe for you and your blood does not contain any agents that may transmit disease to potential recipient, e.g., hiv, hep b &c, west nile virus etc. See this site for more info. http://www.redcrossblood.org/donating-blood/eligibility-requirements.
