Should be: The red cross checks for several conditions such as hiv, and hepatitis for example, to assure you can donate blood. Getting an "ok" from them is a good sign. Best wishes.

No problem found: Even red cross does not (/can not) test for everything, but if you got a new donor card (congratulations!) instead of a deferral letter, you are correct, they are using your blood to help save up to three people's lives. Keep up the great work and thank you!
