Why is the top white part of my nail really weak? how do i strengthen it?

Nail weakness: I cannot tell really what part of the nail you're referring to. The distal edge of the nail or the free edge of the nail is whitish but this is weaker only because it's not attached. Sometimes with aging the nails get thinner and weaker.
