Many: There are a great many types of brain tumors. The major groups include some benign ones such as meningiomas, and malignancies such as gliomas (astrocytomas, oligodendrogliomas, ependymomas), embryonal tumors (such as medulloblastomas), germ cell tumors, and nerve sheath tumors. Many of these have multiple subtypes. There are whole textbooks about the classification and pathology of brain tumors.
