Need an expert opinion to on which type of cells form brain tumors: neurons or neuroglia?

Both: Primary brain tumors can arise from neuroglia including astrocytes (astrocytomas), oligodendrocytes (oligodendrogliomas), and ependymal cells (ependymomas). Other tumors can arise from the meninges, Schwann cells, germ cells, the pituitary gland, or the pineal gland. Recent research has shown that gliomas can be induced from neurons in mice (ref: http://www.sciencemag.org/content/338/6110/1080)

Glial cells usually: There are many different types of brain tumors that arise from different cell types. The glial cells include astrocytes and oligodendrocytes. malignant neuronal tumors arise from primitive neuronal cells, not mature neurons. Glial tumors are more common in adults than neuronal tumors, but in children it is the opposite, and neuroblastic tumors are more common.
