Dad has developed hospital deluiruim/pyschosis. how do we proceed?

Rule out cause: Go to er. If in hospital have doctor rule out metabolic causes. Get a psych to help. Usually an antipsychotic helps and is a blessing to the patient while a cause is being looked for and then treated. It is my experience that delirium is often ignored and that psychiatric consults are underused. Once i was denied a psych consult and went untreated for 3 days o same with brother until i intervened.
