A member asked:

Can a head injury cause schizophrenia?

No, but....: I have known a few patients who had psychosis (schizophrenia is a type of psychotic disorder) from severe head trauma. So it is possible to have psychotic symptoms from a head injury (probably not from a minor one), such as hallucinations, delusions, inappropriate affect, etc. For practical purposes, it can look the same but is not technically schizophrenia.

No: Head injuries can cause agitation, memory loss, personality change, difficulty concentrating, poor sleep, lack of motivation, headaches. A head injury does not cause schizophrenia, which commonly causes paranoia, delusions, and hallucinations.
