Sometimes: Sometimes a weak heart muscle develops so suddenly (or after a fever, cold or flu) that we suspect it may be from a virus, like a flu of the heart, which can recover. We use the usual medication and the heart muscle can be rechecked by echo in a month or 2 or 3 since recovery may be found.

I am assuming : You developed viral myocarditis vs bacterial endocarditis. Based on your age. No other info given by you. Depending on the case, the infection can get better with antibiotics and proper care but the damage to the heart, if heal at all, will take longer. Medication therapy and possibly surgical correction, if a heart valve involved, may be necessary. Continue close care with your cardiology.

Depends: If the infection exacerbated preexisting heart failure, once infection is better CHF should improve. If the infection caused heart failure such as viral cardiomyopathy, then the CHF may or may not resolve after the infections is resolved. Although chances are good that would improve. If the infection is damging or damaged a valve (endocarditis) then the damage is ususally permanet.
