What it says: Mrsa is exactly what it says it is: a strain of staph. Aureus that is resistant to the antibiotic methicillin. The reason this is such a big deal is that methicillin was, for many years, the sovereign treatment for staph aureus - and when a strain emerged that was resistant to it, it caused quite a stir. But there are (for now) effective treatments, including Doxycycline and bactrim (sulfamethoxazole and trimethoprim).
