Cosmetic consult 1st: See your plastic surgeon for a consultation to see if you are a good candidate for temporary muscle paralytics like botox. The dose and location of injections are usually decided during the consultation and the areas can then be treated either the same day or usually another day.Ensure that the treatment vial has not been sitting open prior to use - better to get treated by appointment & not walkin.

From your Doctor: Botox is a substance that requires not only a doctor's prescription, but for a certified medical person to give the injection. The injector should understand facial anatomy - that's why i give my patients the injections myself. Other offices allow their nurses to give it. The bottom line is that when given correctly, it is both safe and effective for control of facial lines and wrinkles.

Qualified doctor: Find a qualified physician who is trained and experienced at administering botox. This is usually a derm, plastic surgeon, or aesthetic specialist. I administer the injections in my office--i do not delegate this to a nurse or other staff member. The results depend on the skill level of the practitioner. It is very safe and effective when done properly.
