See below: Generally speaking one kidney should give you sufficient function throughout your life it does not hurt to check out the urine and measure creatinine/gfr which is a blood test if there is a stone in that kidney and blocks it, it is a problem compared to other people who may have a stone, but have a functioning other kidney ofcourse a freak accident injury to only one kidney would also be a problem.
