A member asked:

Can my 13 yr daughter use the omnipod system even if she's injecting lantus (insulin glargine) upon waking up and at bedtime as well as novolog 3x a day before meals?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Replace injections: Omnipod (or Insulin pump) can replace both Lantus (insulin glargine) and NovoLog injections. The device is loaded with short-acting Insulin (like novolog) and can deliver a steady stream of Insulin (which is what Lantus (insulin glargine) is designed to do) and deliver boluses for before meals (which is what NovoLog is doing now for her). Insulin pump may not be right for everyone so talk to the endocrinologist to get more info.
