Fever: The cut off most doctors use to define a fever is 100.4 (or100.5). When kids get sick they have an increase over their regular body temperature. This is the way the body helps to fight illness. Often more important the the number is: how does your child look? Fever is a symptom if you put all the symptoms together you can get a better idea of what is going on and how to help.

Yes: A temperature is considered normal up to 100.4. Your son may have allergies causing a runny nose and swollen eyes or may have a minor cold, but his temperature is normal at 99.4.
