Benicar (olmesartan) and BP: Benicar (olmesartan) is a drug of the angiotensin receptor blocker class combined with a diuretic. The BP lowering effect of Benicar (olmesartan) can take up to two weeks to be seen. That is because it remodels the endothelium (e) of arteries as is shown in the image. This remodeling takes two weeks and the BP is lowered by making the e more compliant, thereby lowering bp. Check back with your doctor in two weeks to see.
