Stomach ulcer: Confirmed stomach ulcer would require an acid reducer such as Prilosec or Prevacid or like drugs (protonix (pantoprazole) or nexium), once to twice daily. Certain foods such as caffeinated beverages, fried, fatty, hard to digest ones, need to be avoided. Usually ulcers heal within 4 weeks, occasionally up to 6 weeks. Sometimes other medications are used such as carafate, maalox, but they're not as effective.
