Possible: Hiv is transmissible by body fluids, so transferring saliva (french kissing) has the possibility to cause an HIV transmission.

Doubtful, but...: It is fairly unlikely to get HIV from french kissing. The only concern would be if the person your friend is kissing has an open sore or is bleeding in the mouth at the time of french kissing. This is however, very doubtful that anyone would be kissing someone else with an open sore or active bleeding. Thanks for your question.
