Usually Combination: Rheumatoid arthritis should be definatively diagnosed through blood work. If this has been completed, there are a series of medications that can be used. Typically rheumatologists try an immunomodulator and a medicine like methotrexate. All of these medications have significant side effects. Seek out an experience rheumatologist if you do not have one.
