Can't say: This presentation sounds like a subchorionic (under the site of implantation) hemotoma where bleeding occurred. The products of conception would need to be sent for chromosomal analysis to determine if there was a chromosome abnormality that led to this miscarriage. They are expensive but sometimes worth the cost.

Likely: Sorry about the bad news. Yes. Most likely this was a problem with the embryo and not with you. It is good that you got pregnant. This often bodes well for future ivf cycle success. Most embryo problems this early in pregnancy are chromosomal issues. Please speak with your doctor about your particular situation. Take care and best of luck.
