I thought so!: Just like undergrad was more difficult than high school! look at it this way. Usually, only top percentage of high school class goes to college while only top percentage of undergrad class goes on to medical school. So in one sense, competition is harder but so is amount of material you're expected to learn (quickly) w/grave consequences. Otoh, i would not change a thing: i love being a family doc.

Depends: Medical school is not necessarily harder do to the actual material, it's the amount of material which must be mastered in a short amount of time which makes it challenging. This is not to say that it's easy, as this is certainly not the case.

yes: Physicians need to be able to absorb a large amount of information, apply it, continue to study throughout our careers, and teach. This requires a huge investment of time and effort in medical school. Learning everything we can about the human body, both in health and illness, is an enormous undertaking. Working very hard in college is excellent preparation. It's worth it!

Worth it: Medical school was tough. I had the privilege to study with very talented and dedicated classmates. We worked very hard. Having said that, it was worth it. Good luck.
