About 7-10 days: Patients can usually go back to full activity after septoplasty 7-10 days postop. After the first postop visit when the splints are removed almost all patients experience major breathing improvement. Your anxiety might be worse initially because the nose is more congested than usual. Long term, the asthma may be better since the air is now cleaned, warmed, and humidified as it goes thru the nose.

No: If done properly, improving the nasal patency may actually help your asthma. From the patients I have seen, they usually recover from the surgery in a couple of weeks although optimal healing may take 6 weeks. An ENT doctor can probably give you a better idea.
