Unknown cause: Gastric cancer may be related to a gastric infection termed helicobacter pyloris. Some relate it to diet as well. Most cancers are of unknown origin. A stage 4 cancer is likely to have been one that had earlier symptoims that were neglected by a 43 year old person.

Weight reduction sur: Gastric by pass and other surgeries has morbidity, due to multiple anastamosis, metabolic problems, etc. In gastric plication all these are avoided, no diversion of gastric contents by reducing the size and capacity of stomach with out anastomosis or resection that will cause less problems.

This is still experimental- and there are complications that have been found - some requiring surgery. The suture could break- you could get a stomach hernia, ulcers, and other issues.
