Symptom: If i were your daughter's physician, i would ask her what symptom is bothering her most. If she is without a fever, then likely this viral illness will run its course. Best is to get lots of rest, drink lots of fluids. If congestion is bothering her, she can safely take sudafed (the plain version). Not much medicine to take for runny nose. Most important is rest, liquids, rest and more liquid.

Cold: Fluids, fluids, fluids. Rest. Neti pot for nasal congestion. Tylenol (acetaminophen) for bodily ache and/or fever of 101.5 f or higher. Otherwise, if not better in 72 hours, see doc.
