Work well. : Most over the counter medications for acid reflux work well. I have had success in patients with tagamet (cimetidine). Take it as directed. Sit up for at least 2 hours after eating. Do not lay down. Avoid caffein such as tea or coffee, avoid chocolate and other foods that can aggravate it including spicy or hot foods. If it continues, see your physician who can provide a further work up and treatment.

Prilosec or prevacid (lansoprazole): Gerd responds better to protons pump inhibitors than to antacids . Standard gerd precautions are helpful
