A disconnect.: Delayed sleep phase disorder is like being disconnected from the time the rest of the world runs on. It is usually very hard to fall asleep until 2-6 am and impossible to get up before 10 am -1 pm. As a consequence, if you must get up at a "normal time", it is very hard to function and you feel sleepy until until later in the afternoon. This can effect relationships and job performance.
