Acanthosis nigricans: This is likely acanthosis nigricans. It is a pigmentary disorder associated with Insulin resistance as with diabetes, obesity or the polycystic ovarian syndrome. It cannot be washed away as the pigmentation is in the skin. If you have symptoms of the above it would be reasonable to see a doc. If you are obese you should lose weight, but despite best efforts pigmentation often remains.
