One reason: May be a process called acanthosis nigricans. It is quite common and may be due to elevated insulin. It is common in the arm pits and groin. Look this up and see if the diagnosis fits your description. Good luck.

Work up needed: Speak with your gynecologist . You may have a condition known as acanthosis migrans. It may be part of a syndrome and you may need a workup.
