Are there treatment guidelines for bronchiolitis?

Yes: There have been numerous studies which looked at effective treatments for bronchiolitis, and there are none. At home treatment consists of nasal saline spray, nasal aspiration, and some suggest vaporizers, your child needs to be observed for signs of breathing problems, increased rate of breathing, retractions of skin between ribs, under ribs, above the collar bone, and nasal flaring.

Yes: Bronchiolitis is a lower respiratory infection (in the bronchioles)-it is caused by several viruses, particularly rsv, hmpv (2 most common). It causes problems mostly with infants <1 year. No specific treatement. Antibiotics dont help. Most studies show that albuterol does not help. Treatment consists of saying hydrated, suctioning the nose, and to see the dr. If not drinking, or resp distress.

Yes: There are official treatment guidelines published for bronchiolitis for example from the american academy of pediatrics. You may be able to view these if you go to their website and look for treatment guidelines.
