A member asked:

Is it ok to take xanax (alprazolam) after having c. diff? which meds to stay away from?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Yes: You may take xanax (alprazolam) after c diff even if it caused you to have your colon removed. The only meds you must avoid are antibiotics unless they are being given to treat the c diff or another emergency medical condition, at least until the c diff clears up. Also, one of the antibiotics often used to treat c diff carries a strong recommendation against any alcohol while on it. This is flagyl.
